Self Portrait: Digital Decomposition involves a series of digital 3-D scans of the artist's limbs. As the digital laser scanner, normally used to scan artifacts for study, can only record one set of horizontal points at any given moment, unintended bodily movements will inevitably distort the results. The plaster sculptures displayed represent the spatial difference between the various scans and in essence the unintentional movement that has taken place between each scan. The objects were produced using a 3-D plaster printer.
